Crank Springs, Modoc
National Forest
These
Slashbuster® forest fuels reduction
images are from a treatment about
seventy acres in size. Half of the
treated area was underburned to
ascertain the affects.
Road dividing the burned from the
unburned area.
Fire responded to the Slashbusted
fuel bed by slowly burning in a
mosaic pattern.
Executed during the summer months,
this prescribed burn had flame lengths
of less than five feet. One year
post-burn, nearly 100% of the residual
stand survived.
